First Impressions of Dark Fantasy Manga ‘Goblin Slayer’

Maybe it's just for me, but there are Mangas which I see as the ones that will gain a lot of attraction and until now, I didn't fail much in the judgment. The titular Manga (Goblin Slayer) is an adaptation of the same name light novel series written by Kumo Kagyu and illustrated by Noboru Kannatuki. A Manga adaptation is created by Kōsuke Kurose known for Te to Tetry On!, Kara no Kyoukai – The Garden of Sinners adaptation and many other titles. Goblin Slayer has been serialized in the Monthly Big Gangan magazine and licensed by North American publisher Yen Press.

Goblin Slayer start as any ordinary fantasy/adventure Manga, but end of the first chapter kicks you back into dark side of it with a big blow, almost like a punishment for our adventure group for their childish take-on of the quest. The story follows a young priestess who sets out with a group of newbie adventurers to slay a nest of Goblins, but the Goblins launch a sneek attack which caused death of almost all party members. In moments of utter powerlessness and near her death, priestess was saved by a man who's dedicated his life to the extermination of all goblins called Goblin Slayer. This event was a turn point for our heroine and her savior, to find out more about what will happen next, check out the Manga and chapters to come.

When it comes to the art, it is well illustrated with some western art elements such as few cut scenes in the same page and with less features of Eastern culture, where the character genre is almost unrecognizable. All mentioned above is making Goblin Slayer perfect for NA and EU release. For now it’s hard to get a real impression of the Manga but this might be a good choice for all those who love to play MMORPG games and in the same time, they love comics.

Goblin Slayer also features some themes and scenes that may not be suitable for very young readers, which is why Yen Press published "GOBLIN SLAYER! Brace yourself — you've been warned" on their social networks. Although, this will be a hell of a ride for all Manga lovers.
