Taken 3: ‘America has too many f****** guns’
On press conference in Dubai for the launch of Taken 3, 62-year-old Liam Neeson expressed his opinion about to firearms, but it was not well accepted by the companies that distribute weapons for movie.
“There’s just too many f*cking guns out there. I think the (US) population is like 320 million. There’s over 300 million guns privately owned in America. I think it’s a f*cking disgrace.“
In response, North Carolina-based PARA USA which also supplied guns for movie Taken 3 is calling on the firearm industry not to supply guns to Neeson’s project.
„We ask that our friends and partners in Hollywood refrain from associating our brand and products with his projects. We encourage our partners and friends in the firearms industry to do the same.“
In the U.S., there are now somewhere between 270 million and 310 million guns, according to the Pew Research Center, gun industry is controversial and each year in U.S. more then 31,000 people are killed by firearms. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate 85 kills per day. What saddens me is the reaction of the company, each actor is influential and he should express his opinion and point to such things regardless of the fact that he is a star in the action film.
Storyline for Taken 3:
Liam Neeson returns as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills, whose long awaited reconciliation with his ex-wife is tragically cut short when she is brutally murdered. Consumed with rage, and framed for the crime, he goes on the run to evade the relentless pursuit of the CIA, FBI and the police. For one last time, Mills must use his “particular set of skills,” to track down the real killers, exact his unique brand of justice, and protect the only thing that matters to him now – his daughter.
